Alton Towers Resort - Alton Towers Reveals Event Plans To Give Your Autumn Some Oomp-ARGHhhh!

Alton Towers Resort has today confirmed more details about its brand-new event ‘Oktoberfest’ and confirmed two new attractions will be revealed at their annual spooktacular, Scarefest!

From Friday September 11th to Sunday October 4th, entertainment-led festival ‘Oktoberfest’ will take place each afternoon and include live acts, delicious food and drink with a German twist, as well as the chance to enjoy a selection of the park’s world-class rollercoasters and family attractions into the evening.

From 3pm each day, an area of the 500-acre Theme Park will be transformed into a Bavarian-themed venue, complete with Lederhosen-clad hosts and oompah band! It will offer the perfect setting for families and friends looking to explore new delicious dishes and live outdoor entertainment in a fun, family friendly atmosphere.

Guests will be able to enjoy Oktoberfest’s atmosphere and entertainment within the price of a theme park ticket. (Pre-booking tickets for the theme park will be essential.)

From Oompah to ARGHhhhhhhh! The Resort will undergo its frightfully impressive transformation to become home to the UK’s much-loved and best Halloween extravaganza ‘Scarefest’ from Friday October 9th to Sunday November 1st (selected dates).

The Resort has confirmed that this year’s event will also feature two new attractions for thrillseekers and families alike.

‘Freak Show: Toxic Junkyard’ promises to get pulses racing as it joins the award-winning line up of live action scare mazes* for thrillseekers. An outdoor maze, it will invite the foolhardy to venture into the Freak Show hidden den to discover the secret of the psycho clowns’ next big show.

The new scare maze, which will be fully unveiled later this summer, is the latest addition to the Theme Park’s line-up of terrifyingly good scare mazes which will be completed with the return of:

• The Attic: Terror of the Towers, an unforgettable and truly chilling experience set in the eaves of the Theme Park’s famous and historical Tower ruins. Rumoured to be haunted by ‘the Governess’, local legend says she is eternally trying to avenge the death of her charges; taking the spirits of the living as penance…but who will be her next victim?

• Darkest Depths inviting guests to board the infamous ghost ship ‘The Mutiny’ and journey into the darkest depths to earn their piece of eight. The treacherous Sirens will try to lure guests into the ocean as they dodge the swords of the mutinous ghost pirates and come face to face with the sea’s meanest legend of all … the Kraken! (suitable for families)

• Altonville Mine Tours: Uncover The Legend of the Skin Snatchers offering a tale with a not-so-beautiful twist. Those brave enough can also head to ‘Altonville’, a recently re-opened mine at the Resort, which holds a deep dark secret. Enter the damp, disused mine, which is believed to have once been home to a family of village outcasts. Nicknamed the ‘Skin Snatchers’ by local residents, their spine-chilling secret is about to be unearthed. Remember ‘Beauty is only skin deep’.

A new family-led attraction has also been confirmed for the event, which will give guests the opportunity to enjoy the Alton Towers Gardens as never before and witness them come to life in a whole new spooktacular light. ‘Garden Lights Walk: Whispering Souls’ will be a brand-new experience and free for guests to enjoy as part of the event’s family friendly frights line-up of live entertainment including the Freaky Five and CBeebies Land Monster Ball.

As part of Scarefest, guests of all ages can experience the Theme Park’s world-class rollercoasters and family attractions in the dark with ride opening extended until 9pm daily.

James Walker, Marketing Director at Alton Towers Resort, said:

“We are really excited to be able to offer something brand new for our guests in 2020, as well as stage the return of our much-loved Halloween event. This year marks the theme park’s 40th anniversary and it was always the plan to make it a year of celebration for our guests.

“As well as brilliant live entertainment for Oktoberfest, we are working with partners to offer unique food and drink options for the event to ensure we create a memorable, exciting and family-friendly atmosphere all with a German twist. It will be a first in the Theme Park’s history and not to be missed.

“In addition, the much-anticipated return of Scarefest will provide ongoing fun and thrills for thrillseekers and families later into the year, with two brand new exciting attractions never seen before.”

Since re-opening on July 4th, Alton Towers Resort has implemented a wide range of measures to help ensure social distancing and good hygiene whilst guests enjoy a fun day out.
